Bocce, Bites & a Beautiful Desert Evening
What a night!
Our Newcomers Club bocce event brought together a wonderful crowd for an evening of friendly competition, great food, lots of laughs, and absolutely perfect desert weather. We had nearly a full turnout, which made the courts feel lively from the very beginning.

The evening was organized by Andrew Steele, Francesco Biasi, and Xenia Biasi. To keep things interesting, Andrew gave each team an animal name, so before long the bocce courts were filled with Hyenas, Frogs, and the rest of our little Newcomers wildlife collection.
After several rounds of play, the Hyenas and the Frogs were the last two teams standing.
And the winners were...
First Place: The Hyenas! (They took home beautiful crystal lights as their first-place prizes).
Second Place: The Frogs! (They received adorable desert-themed candles shaped like cactuses, a very appropriate prize for life here in the desert.)
We also presented two special recognition awards, with prizes that were a little less elegant and considerably more entertaining.

We even had two “kisses,” when the bocce ball landed right up against the pallino. Those were definitely some of the most exciting shots of the evening.
Of course, the evening was about much more than winning. Everyone brought food to share, the tables were full, the conversation never seemed to stop, and there was plenty of cheering and laughter from court to court.
By the time the sun went down over the mountains, it was one of those evenings that reminded us exactly what the Newcomers Club is all about: meeting people, making friends, trying something fun, and enjoying this beautiful community together.
Thank you to everyone who came, played, brought food, helped out, cheered from the sidelines, and made the evening such a success.
We’re already looking forward to our next Newcomers Club event, the Halloween Ball! Costumes are encouraged, but definitely not required. For those who do decide to dress up, we’ll have prizes in several fun categories. Whether you come in costume or just come to enjoy the evening, we hope to see you there.
