Welcome to the SCSH Newcomers Club!
Hello friends, and friends we haven’t met yet!
If you are new to SCSH (or feel as if you are), we’d love to have you join us when our monthly Newcomers Club events begin again in September. They are Happy Hour mixers where everyone contributes hearty hors d’oeuvres and brings their own beverage.
Explore our website and you’ll find that Newcomers Club Members enjoy a variety of Club events in Sun City Shadow Hills — and beyond.

Greeting from our club president
It’s late February and the temperature is over 90 degrees. I guess that means spring is around the corner. (Or summer has decided to zip past spring.) It also means that our club is rapidly moving along.
I’ve attended many of our past events and I continue to be amazed by the turnout of interesting, fun (and good looking) folks in attendance. The two concerts at the Gardens on El Paseo got people nostalgically rock’n and roll’n, and the post concert meals and conversation finished off both evenings on high notes.
Thank you Rich Rawson for your terrific planning/hosting. Rich and his wife Kim amazingly hosted a fun & relaxing potluck at their beautiful home in January. Also in January, 32 of our club members played 18 holes on the Montecito putting green. There were three holes-in-ones… all by female golfers! Other winter highlights included Euchre playing, hummingbird watching, trivia contesting, and post Tex-Mex “Newbie” awarding… (eat your heart out Oscar’s!)
We have a busy calendar of events this spring. From “Let’s Meet And Eat” gatherings to polo to tennis to hiking to hockey. Be sure to check out the events tab and see what works for you. Please RSVP so hosts can easily plan logistics. And please, if you find you cannot attend an event, cancel your RSVP as there may be members on a waiting list that can take your place.
Lastly, a big thank you shout out from me to fellow board members Sue Drangstveit, Diane Chapman, and Rich Rawson. And thank you to our club's webmaster Oxana Biasi, decorations/hostess Natasha Frank, and past president Michelle Lackner (who now boogies on a new bionic knee!). The process of pre-planning, tinkering, and executing sails smoothly with you guys! In other words, collaborating with fun and nice people has made the process nice and fun.
Which leads to next year’s board… This year’s board agreed to serve for one year. Thus, we are looking for people to take over our positions next year. Please consider giving back as a board member, event host, or any other position. Reach out to us if you have any questions or recommendations. There is no doubt that this club has a lot of smart and creative new and not so new members that can lead us into infinity and beyond (or at least through the next year or two or three…)
Yi Ha!
Andrew
