Greetings. I’m Andrew Steele and I am honored to be the new president of the Newcomers club. In December 2022 my wife Bonnie and I moved from NYC to SCSH and found ourselves overwhelmed. After unpacking two PODS and a multitude of boxes we ventured into the community to hike, bike, and lose golf balls. One day we attended a Newcomers event and felt instantly welcomed.

At the club’s monthly potlucks we sampled a variety of yummy home made dishes, engaged in fascinating and funny conversations, and swayed to what appeared to be holiday tunes played by a brave band of kazoo playing Newcomers. We attended several of the club’s group events outside the community such as The Walk Of The Inns in Palm Springs, a Firebirds hockey game at the Acrisure Arena, and the Glow in the Park Event at The Living Desert. In the community we dined and danced at the Newcomers table at the monthly Let Meet And Eat gatherings, and tested our athletic skills at the barely competitive bocce ball bash, putting party, and pickleball primer.

We are very grateful we attended that first event as the Newcomers Club has introduced us to many forever friends. If you are a newbie or oldie in our beautiful community and have an urge to do neat things with neat people contact us. We may be just what you’re looking for.
